Community Coach - Initiation: The FUNdamentals Phase of Player Development.
Designed to support coaches working with the entry level and recreational players.
The course content gives coaches the background to teach new and young players in a fun and exciting way.
(One day course for new coaches/parents who would like to assist with mini tyke/tyke.)
Community Coach - Development: The Learning to Play Phase of Player Development
This is the starting level for coaches of all older beginners in both recreational
and competitive leagues, and the next step for young players who have completed the FUNdamentals Phase
of Learning. Community Coach - Development also contains elements of the FUNdamentals Phase of Development
as all players must go through this phase with every new skill and concept learned (Formerly Level 1).
Competitive Coach - Introduction: The Learning to Compete Phase of Player Development
Coaches in competitive and house leagues of older players will need the knowledge and
coaching techniques of the Learning to Compete Phase (Formerly Level 2).

Participants are to bring a pen and paper for classroom sessions and lacrosse stick and runners for practical on floor sessions.
The Canadian Lacrosse Association and Manitoba Lacrosse have instituted minimum-coaching standards for all disciplines in lacrosse. Coaches must obtain the “minimum standard” that is required for the age group they will be coaching. All box coaches (Head and Assistant) who will be coaching Tyke, Novice and Pee Wee must obtain the Community Development level.
All coaches (Head and Assistants) participating in MLA sanctioned programs (Red River Lacrosse Association, Thompson Lacrosse, High School Field Lacrosse, Provincial Box and Field programs) must be registered members of the MLA. Coaches who are not certified at their required minimum standard and who are not paid MLA members are not eligible to be on the bench.

A maximum of twenty-five (25) participants per clinic (first come first serve).
Registration fee is a prerequisite to begin the course; cheques made payable to
"Manitoba Lacrosse Association" & mailed to 200 Main Street, R3C 4M2, or they may be dropped off at
the MLA office, Room 216 - 200 Main Street.
There is no clinic registration fee for individuals who are officiating Minor Box lacrosse
for the first year. Officials must be 14 years of age and over (can turn 14 in 2008). Winnipeg Minor Lacrosse
covers the clinic registration fee for first year officials only. Participants attending the clinic are
requested to bring a bag lunch.
All officials in the WMLA are required to wear a mesh jersey during all WMLA games.
We will have these jerseys for purchase at the clinic for a cost of $25.00.
All participants will be required to write an exam so please be sure
to bring a pencil and eraser.
